Purple Poplar Eater

By Daphne & Leland Boone

Animal: Beaver, Material: Phosphosiderite
This offering is sold.
Hard-working Beavers dine on the bark from poplar, willow, birch and aspen trees, among other preferred species. Just under the bark is where a living layer grows, called the cambium layer, their favorite part. Daphne and Leland Boone's turquoise-eyed water creature has been carved from lovely phosphosiderite which displays lilac purple hues. Whether constructing an underwater lodge, repairing dams or taking care of the kits, an energetic beaver does it with zeal. And so it needs to refuel with proper nutrition from the inner bark of trees in order to get all the work done. About 3" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall.
