Matriarch Ellen Quandelacy's special talents included making incredible inlay jewelry and carving animals like equines that are still popular, hard to find yet easy to identify thanks to her singular style. Only after Ellen passed in 2002 did her children begin carving horses.

Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo Quandelacy's reversible Horse pendant necklace is spectacular. Friendly turquoise eyes are inlaid to a smoky mother-of-pearl with natural gold lip areas. The horse with swatting tail has a carved naja or crescent shape ready to be laced with beads. It's a unique design the Quandelacy family is known for, sculpted right into the material's center instead of attaching a metal bale. This style was started by the late Johnny Quam and continued by his daughter Ellen and right down the family line. Strung with a double strand of complimenting turquoise, lapis lazuli, pen shell and spiny oyster shell beads, Stewart and Priscilla's handsome pendant necklace is adjustable from about 23 3/4" to 30 1/4" long, thanks to an extension chain. The lovely horse pendant itself is approximately 1 5/8" tall, 2 7/8" long and 5/8" deep.
