The Zuni Pueblo people believe that the Sunface symbol is beneficial as it represents a balance in life: traditionally blue stands for Father Sky, red stands for Mother Earth, and white and black represent all the elements in balance. Artists use their creative license and often choose different materials in their pieces as did Eric Othole in his magnificent "Springtime Sunrise Sunface" pendant. He worked layers of sterling silver by forging, hammering, texturing and doming the Sunface to rise slightly above the surface. A red coral cabochon serves as a mouth piece. The textures in this approximately 2 3/4" long and 2" wide pendant are extraordinary. Signed by the artist. The lovely silver snake chain is not included but is available and sold separately here.
