For the A:Shiwi (The People) the Frog (Dakkya) is a sign of healthy water. Water is regarded as a sacred living resource for many Indigenous cultures. Calvert Bowannie's pen-shell eyed amphibian wants to remind us that wildlife depends on clean water. We can join a cleanup to help remove trash and debris from natural water sources. Carved from a matrix-rich turquoise, this water friend is approximately 1 5/8" long, 1" wide and 1" tall. An oversized serpentine point and lovely branch red coral beads compose the offering bundle.
