The Hawai'ian honu or Green Sea Turtle is a sacred water creature representing strength, longevity and wisdom. In creation chants, the honu was born in the realm of pō or darkness, where life originates. Hawai'ian Peoples consider the honu to be aumākua or spiritual guardians. Atlantisite is a naturally occurring combination of green serpentine and purple stichtite. Master carver Loren Tsalabutie's sea Turtle has been fluidly shaped from a green serpentine-rich atlantisite specimen to a size of approximately 3 1/2" long, 3" wide and 1 1/4" tall. Little eyes are from turquoise inlays.
