The Dene First Nation shares a traditional story that tells of an Arctic fox that saves The People from starvation by bringing them caribou. An alert arctic Fox (Wolf or Coyote) happily lives near the peaceful North Pole. Accustomed to cold weather, the wonderful wild canine enjoys a wintery home. Lovingly carved from fish rock serpentine by Eli Cheama, an adorable nose and eyes are from jet inlays. A cozy fur coat is achieved by intricate etching. Sometimes arctic foxes will follow a hunting polar bear in hopes of an easy meal from nutritious leftovers. Roughly 2 3/8" long, 1 1/8" wide and 1 1/8" tall.
