Medicine-bears are called such because their example is one of healing. You see, in nature bears go into a torpor inside their den or cave to rest and restore themselves. The entrance is usually rounded so medicine bears are carved that way, with rounded backs to symbolize this place of renewal. Paulette and Farlan Quam's onyx medicine bear has a presence of peace and understanding, as though saying don't worry everything will work out. Turquoise eyes are soulfully strong. Approximately 3" long, 1" wide and 2 3/8" tall.
