Bolo Tie Bear

By Eddington Hannaweeke

Animal: Bear, Material: Tidgilite
This offering is sold.

Dressed for success, Eddington Hannaweeke's Bear sports a hand-stamped sterling silver, turquoise and coral miniature bolo tie. He comes from a family of jewelers so incorporating those skills in a handsome bolo tie for the bellied bear is really unique. Early bolo ties originated in the 1900s by Indigenous men from Zuni Pueblo, Hopi Pueblo and Diné. They would tie bandanas around the necks secured with string and decorated with shell additions. Standing at roughly 1 3/4" tall, 1" wide and about 1" deep, this collectible bear has been carved from tidgilite and has sweet eyes from pen shell inlays.
