Beautifully-souled master carver Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez was a mere nine years old when she was taught to shape stones using only hand tools by her aunt, renowned Zuni Pueblo artist Faye Quandelacy. Lucky for us, the last 12 years have been dedicated to carving full time, with Kateri garnering prestigious awards at SWAIA's Santa Fe Indian Market and The Heard Show in Arizona, among others. If you don't have one of her fabulous carvings in your collection, now's the time. Lovingly sculpted from nicely weighty peacock ore, a mother-of-pearl faced Corn-Maiden stands strong at about 2 1/2" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 7/8" deep. We love the magical purple, teal and blue metallic hues within the golden mineral.
