Treasured Frog

A magical Frog by Brian Yatsattie is carved from an eye-catching specimen of golden pyrite with interesting quartz inclusions. With jet inlaid eyes, this glistening amphibian is about 1 3/8" long, 1 1/8" wide and 3/4" tall. They say frogs (Dakkya) come down with the rain, which makes sense in the desert where the rain and the frogs show up at the same time. However, in reality the desert frogs hibernate underground, hiding like hidden treasure, waiting for the rain to signal the time to emerge. These frogs then take advantage of the short lived puddles to mate and lay eggs. The eggs hatch and the tadpoles mature into four legged frogs all before the water dries up. Life on fast forward! This beautiful amphibian is about 2 1/4" long and 2 1/4" wide with eyes of inlaid jet.
