Sandra Quandelacy's double-side carving from iridescent gold lip shell represents a Tablita Corn-Maiden and Grandmother who watch over precious water, a living source of interconnectedness. Presented on a base from gold lip shell with crushed turquoise, a miniature bloodstone "olla pottery" jar is filled to the brim with bits of turquoise signifying life-sustaining water. Water-loving Dragonfly and star incised designs are on their shawls or blankets. Soothing faces are etched and filled with jet paste. Inlays like red coral, turquoise, malachite and lapis accent them. Dimensions including the lovely base are about 4" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 3/8" deep.
