Artist Benina Kallestewa is well-known for wonderful animal carvings and lovely jewelry works. She starting making jewelry when she was 20 years old. Her mother noted jeweler Veranda Kallestewa taught her how to solder and to shape stones. It is a cultural practice of Zuni families to share intergenerational knowledge. Traditions and skills are often passed down to children and grandchildren. Benina's gorgeous sterling silver pendant feels like a part of you the moment you put it on. Colorful turquoise, red coral and jet are inlaid to sterling silver bordered by elegant stamping details. Including the bale, dimensions are about 1 7/8" long, 3/4" wide and 1/8" deep.
