Jeffrey Yunie is from the greater Quandelacy family of distinguished Zuni artists. His brother is carver Brian Yunie. Their mother was noted artist Albenita Yunie (d), and their grandmother was Ellen Quandelacy (d). Ellen learned the art of fetish carving from her father Johnny Quam (d), passing down all her traditional carving experience to her children.
Jeffrey's turquoise-eyed pig is a wonderful fetish carved from a gorgeously speckled Zuni found stone. It has a great snout with drilled nostrils and a coiled tail. Pigs are among the smartest of all domesticated animals. About 2 3/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1 5/8" tall.
