By Enrike Leekya

Animal: Koala, Material: Picasso Marble
This offering is sold.
The Indigenous First Nations Peoples in eastern Australia regard koalas as creatures with power over the rains. They are water stewards and if disrespected can cause big drought. First Nations Peoples are actively involved in conservation efforts sharing their traditional ecological knowledge to care for koalas as their populations have suffered significantly. Carved from Picasso marble, Enrike Leekya's wise old koala has endearing eyes and a heart-shaped nose both from turquoise inlays. A miniature walking stick is fashioned from lightly fragrant cedar and capped with colorful turquoise. Dimensions of this large-eared marsupial are approximately 2" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" deep.
