If we give animacy to creation we in turn see the natural world as having value and deserving of respect. Creatures like Foxes and other wild canines are revered by Indigenous cultures. For the ancient Moche People the fox was a sacred animal often depicted in artwork as a warrior. But what made the fox extraordinary was that it only used its mind to fight battles never engaging in physical warfare. Salvador Romero's fox is carved from found stone outfitted with a voluminous tail. The sunset-hued stone has the most amazing texture. About 4 3/4" long, 1" wide and 1 5/8" tall.
