Their animal medicine teaches us to stand our ground and walk the steady way of the ancestors. Burt Awelagte is from the greater Othole family of accomplished Zuni artists. His uncle is renowned carver Gibbs Othole. Burt was taught to carve by mentor Joseph Quam. He honors bison or buffalo medicine through a handsome carving from denim lapis. A spirit of resilience is from turquoise eyes and an offering bundle gift to the mighty bovine is from a gorgeous freshwater blister pearl and green turquoise beads. About 3" long, 7/8" wide and 1 3/4" tall.
