The traditional tufa cast jewelry method was employed in the creation of a collectible Horse ring by noted jeweler Anthony Lovato of Kewa Pueblo. The Museum of Indian Arts & Culture in Santa Fe, NM is honoring him with the 2023 Living Treasure award and an exhibition called "Down Home".
This handmade ring started its life as a tufa stone that Anthony cut in half, smoothing out both surface sides and carving a sprue hole on top. He then etched the wonderful design, pouring in molten sterling silver to form this magnificent ring that cradles a gorgeous coral cabochon. Both the shank and inside of this amazing ring are beautifully detailed. This is a ring size 12 1/2. It's 1" tapering to about 1/2". Signed by the artist.
