Many homes in Zuni Pueblo have an
Owl watching over everything, usually in the form of a pottery owl. Perhaps inspired by this Indigenous tradition, New Mexican artist Peter Sohappy carved a wonderful raptor into what he calls a house blessing. It's been elegantly hewn from actinolite and secured to a black sueded thong that's about 20" long. The enchanted bird itself is approximately 3 3/4" long, 1 3/4" wide and 3/4" deep.
