Artistry runs deep in Evalena Boone's bloodline. She descends from the important Teddy Weahkee family of Zuni Pueblo artists. He was very active in the mid-twentieth century, well-known for animal carvings, inlaid jewelry and human figurines. Evalena's mother is Lena Boone and her grandmother was Edna Leki, a noted artist who produced old-style carved animals. Evalena's brother is carver Leland Boone. This family's artistry is one that continues in generational creativity and cultural heritage.

Evalena's old-style Mountain-lion (puma, panther or cougar) is sculpted from onyx with a long tail up and over the backside. A lovely pink mussel shell point with spiny oyster shell and green turquoise beads compose the offering bundle secured to the side of this approximately 4 1/8" long, 1/2" wide and 1" tall supreme hunter with sky blue turquoise eyes.
