Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez is well-known for carving Corn-Maidens, Mothers, Maiden Grandmothers and Grandmother fetishes. Kateri's late aunt Faye Quandelacy was the first to carve Corn Maidens in small, table top form in the early 1980's, spawning a family tradition. Kateri's small Corn Maiden from angelite is adorned with etched stars and a turquoise cabochon. Facial features are from etched gold lip shell filled with jet paste. About 1 1/4" tall, 3/4" wide and 3/4" deep.
