Animal: Eagle, Material: Apatite
This offering is sold.
In ancient days, ground apatite was used as a purple pigment in the Terracotta Army. Apatite occurs in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. It's a phosphate mineral beloved for intense blue and aqua colors said to inspire creativity and mental intellect. Loren Tsalabutie's perched Eagle (or Hawk) displays these energetic hues in an approximately 3 5/8" long, 1 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" tall apatite carving. Fierce eyes are from turquoise inlays. A handsome offering necklace has turquoise and red coral beads.
