The inspiring colors in labradorite are not actually present in the stone but are the result of light play within it. Labradorite is a feldspar with a crystalline structure that forms very thin compacted layers. When light hits the surface of the stone, it travels down through the layers which reflect, refract and diffuse the white light. Some colors are absorbed while the reflecting ones we see as magical flash on the stone's surface as Kenric Laiwakete's spirited roadrunner from labradorite displays. Etching accents a crest and plumage, while alert eyes are from turquoise inlays. Permanently presented on an arrow point base from iridescent gold lip shell, measurements in their entirety are about 2 5/8" long, 5/8" wide and 1 3/8" tall.
