Sha'lak'o is sacred spiritual being central to Zuni Pueblo culture. Once a year an important religious ceremony takes place in which Sha'lak'o makes an appearance. Sha'lak'o is a messenger from the Rain Gods. This miniature cottonwood carving by Adrian Leon beautifully captures the spirit of Sha'lak'o who stands ten feet tall in real life. Carved cottonwood is embellished with pipe cleaner, feathers and embroidery thread. Including base, measurements are about 3" tall, 1 1/8" wide and 1 1/4" deep. Signed by the artist.
