This offering is sold.
This large Owl is carved from tufa, a type of porous volcanic stone found in the area around the territory of the Ancestral Puebloans that is now Bandelier National Monument. Six small owlets nestle in the breast feathers of their protector. Lionel Sanchez carves after the style of his father-in-law, Wilson Romero of Cochiti Pueblo, using found stone and minimal carving. This large owl is about 8 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" wide. The six owlets range in size from about 1" to 1 7/8" tall, each carved from a small found stone. Extra shipping charges may apply.
