I can count on one hand how many Dan Simplicio, Jr. carvings I have seen in 35 years. He comes from a well known jewelry family. (Dan Sr.’s leaf motif and use of red coral and natural turquoise was innovative.) Dan, Jr. is an anthropologist at Crow Canyon Archeological Center and a talented, precise stone carver, as well. A bird fetish of Dan’s is in the book “Zuni Fetishes & Carvings”. He can also speak to birds. As a member of the Parrot clan he is particularly drawn to carving them, and ravens. A rare and perfect fetish, measuring about 1 1/8" long by 5/8" wide.
