Not many roadrunner fetishes are carved, although they are New Mexico’s state bird. Capturing their forthright attitude and distinctive body is tricky. Nelson Yatsattie made good use of this light-filled stone. When light is behind the carving, you can see the luminosity of the fluorite, especially through the tai, beak land other areas where the stone is thin. It is gracefully carved and polished beautifully. A striking representation of Roadrunner. 3 1/4 inches long and 7/8 inches wide and 1 3/8 inches tail high. A signed piece.
