Andrew Quam is from the greater Johnny Quam (d), Andrew Emerson Quam (d) and Bossie Quam (d) family of wonderful Zuni artists. Andrew's mother was Rosalia Quam (d) who learned the art from her step-father George Cheechee Haloo (d). She was famous for stringing bird fetishes and also for her delightful horse, frog and owl carvings. Rosalia and her husband Andrew Emerson Quam taught their children, including Andrew, the honored art.
Andrew's joyous Frog has been carved from turquoise and inlaid with colorful red coral spots and eyes. A frog-embossed soft leather pouch is included along with the happy amphibian. The turquoise frog measures about 1 1/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 3/8" tall. This two-piece set is wonderfully affordable and gorgeous, making for a cherished gift.
