Small Scale Shalako Katsina Doll

Shalako is a sacred messenger from the Rain Gods, appearing once a year at Zuni Pueblo during religious doings. Felino Eriacho honors Shalako with a very detailed, all handmade traditional cottonwood and natural pigments woodwork. The mineral pigments are derived from lapis lazuli and turquoise providing vibrant color. The stunning pastel-like hues are made from vegetable preparations. Although this lovely Shalako katsina is only about 4 3/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" deep, in real life, Shalako stands 10 feet tall. Measurements include the base. Signed by the artist.
