A wondrous Bear
has been carved from satin spar gypsum by Evalena Boone, capturing ambient light. It has turquoise inlaid eyes and measures about 3 1/2" long, 1 3/8" wide and 1 3/4" tall. She continues in a rich and traditional carving legacy started by Teddy Weahkee (d), her mother Lena Boone's grandfather. His independent work creating fetishes, inlaid jewelry and human figurines, made him one of the most vital carvers at Zuni.
