Animal: Horse, Material: Orthoceras
This offering is sold.
Orthoceras moved around with jet propulsion in ancient Ordovician waters. They were avid hunters who could squirt ink, much like their modern day relative the squid, at a predator. Kenric Laiwakete's Horse with turquoise inlaid eyes hosts an extraordinary orthoceras specimen. One side of this approximate 2 1/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" tall pony is inlaid with a turquoise heartline.
