When the full moon is low in the sky and there are water droplets for it to illuminate there is the possibility of a moonbow, or lunar rainbow. Brian Yatsattie carved this beautiful Bear
from rainbow obsidian, a type of volcanic rock that contains nanoparticles of magnetite creating a subtle yet deeply beautiful iridescence. That iridescence, along with tiny sparkles of pyrite, make this bear look as if it were pulled straight from the night sky. On the one side there are natural white inclusions giving the appearance of a meteor shower. Brian is always pushing the creative envelope and experimenting with new and interesting materials. This bear is about 2 1/2" tall and 3 1/4" long.
