Mountain-lion , whether you call it a cougar, puma or panther, it is still a cat, and being a cat it is curious. Christopher Sandoval carved this graceful, stealthy big cat from a bright and colorful cuprite. Cuprite is related to turquoise and often found in the same area as turquoise and chrysocolla. The red color in the stone gives us a clue that this is a copper oxide. Intelligent eyes of inlaid turquoise gaze at the world in wonder. An offering of amber and turquoise beads are attached. Christopher's understanding of shape and gesture is something to behold in this 3" long work of art.
