Spearheaded by Indigenous leaders from the InterTribal Buffalo Council, environmental non-profits like the Nature Conservancy and The World Wildlife Fund, and the U.S. Department of The Interior, The Tribal Buffalo Lifeways Collaboration was announced in July 2024. This powerful alliance will rematriate vital bison in an unprecedented scale to their original homes like the prairie grassland ecosystems and tribal lands. Bison are a cultural keystone species who are essential to the health and well-being of North America.

A swatting tail keeps the pesky bugs away for Jonas Hustito's young Bison (or buffalo). Grown bison have amazing tails that are around three feet long. A mane, beard, horns and hooves are nicely rendered. Jonas incised his initials on the rump region of this turquoise-eyed bovine carved from always pleasant Picasso marble. About 2" long, 3/4" wide and 1 5/8" tall.
