An important religious katsina ceremony takes place once a year at Zuni Pueblo in which the Shalako Katsinas makes an appearance. A beloved messenger from the Rain Gods, Shalako stands ten feet tall. Zuni artist Ronnie Cachini perfectly captures the colorful scene in this hand-painted miniature. Painted on to Arizona sandstone, the amazing pattern of the stone adds a powerful backdrop to the painting which rests permanently on a flagstone base. Ronnie is a skilled master in miniature and is able to pack an immense amount of detail into a small area. Take a close look at the traveling group and you'll see movement as well as the individual personalities of each face. The piece measures about 5 1/2" tall, 6" wide by 3 1/2" deep, including the base and is signed by the artist. Extra shipping charges may apply due to the delicate nature of the piece.
