Lorandina Sheche's Zuni olla maiden is carved of one piece of Zuni sandstone, standing about 5 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" long and 1 3/8" deep, measurements include serpentine base. Her eyes, necklace, earrings, bracelets, rings, traditional back scarf and moccasins accents are of inlaid turquoise. She balances a water carrying "olla" jar on the top of her head. Lorandina is part of the Zuni Olla Maidens, a traditional group of Zuni women who balance pottery jars on the top of their heads while dancing.
