The pyrogravure art technique involves burning a design on a surface, such as wood, with a heated object. The name pyrogravure comes from the Greek words pur and graphos meaning "writing with fire".  Cameron Kalestewa's mastered this art form in his extraordinary Lizard wall hanging woodwork. These carved dreamy lizards are surrounded by pueblo-inspired decorations like arrowheads, falling rain, a lightning bolt, perhaps bird motifs, a small village representative of Zuni Pueblo and lovely feather elements. The burnt out areas contrast gorgeously with the wood's surface. Signed by the artist. About 23" long including acrylic yarn loop, and 6 1/2" wide. Extra shipping charges may apply.
