Ray Tsalate's original "Tortoise Siblings" carving expresses the traditional and shared kinship between two relatives. This masterful Turtle carving is brought about from one antler specimen. Harmoniously united, each one has expressive eyes of gold lip shell, turquoise or pen shell, while the tortoise maiden also has a set of pen shell inlaid eyes. She wears a lovely turquoise and red coral necklace, while her mouth is inlaid with vibrant lapis. Ray beautifully inlaid tiny pen shell claws in one of the tortoises. Each tortoise's gorgeous carapace is incised and inlaid with an assortment of luscious materials like red coral, lapis, variscite and malachite. About 2 1/4" tall, 3 3/4" wide and 1 1/8" deep.
