Enrike Leekya's Bears
are individually sculpted from Zuni travertine harvested locally on the Zuni Pueblo reservation. Enrike's forefather Leekya Deyuse (d) was known to carve in this unique material. Members of his family continue to use this special stone sometimes called Zuni stone. Eyes are from turquoise inlays while overlaid noses are from pen shell. Together they measure about 4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. Bears are sensitive creatures, like mother bears who are known to grieve deeply if separated from their cubs.
