Lightly and naturally fragrant cedarwood carved animals such as bushytails (Wolves, Coyotes or Foxes), Bears, Eagles or Hawks and perhaps Hummingbirds occupy Marvelita Phillips' collectible double strand fetish necklace, a remarkable one at that. The spirited animals average about 3/4" to 1" in length, while the center bird is about 1 3/8" long and 1" wide. Some have sweet eyes from inlaid turquoise. The gorgeous double strand hosts silky feeling turquoise beads that are either rounded or heishe style. Overall necklace length is about 32". Marvelita's father was renowned Zuni Pueblo carver and jeweler Leonard Halate (d) who started carving in the 1940's. Her brother is Herbert Halate and her son is Brandon Phillips, both wonderful artists as well.
