A gracefully carved cowry shell in the form of a feather and a stunning Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochon are harmoniously presented in Jovanna Poblano's gorgeous pendant. Turquoise is a highly regarded stone by Native Americans used in traditional, ceremonial and medicinal ways both in past times as well as modern day. It can represent the blue sky and life-giving water. Intricate surrounding beadwork is all hand done with sterling silver cut beads. The soft leather backing is signed by the artist who descends from the greater Teddy Weahkee (d) family of carvers. Jovanna's grandfather was iconic Zuni carver Leo Poblano (d).
