Turquoise from the desert meets mother of pearl shell from the sea in these stunning earrings by Mary Francis Coriz. The tradition of stone overlay jewelry in Kewa pueblo reaches far back before the Spanish came to the Rio Grande. Mary Francis Coriz's earrings are a contemporary part of that tradition. Overlaid on melon shell and divided by a line of sterling silver, a turquoise bead accents the mother of pearl shell side of these teardrop shaped beauties. About 2 1/4" long including sterling silver french hook, and 1" wide. Signed by the artist.
