Fanciful tufts, all seeing eyes of jet in turquoise beads plus cool etching marks for feathers, Danette Laate's Owl carved from a green variety of turquoise is perched at about 1 1/2" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1/2" deep. The Zuni Pueblo people call an owl "the Night Grandfather" because he does his work at night.
