With nearly 7,000 feathers an Eagle (or Hawk who is little brother to eagle in Zuni traditional ways) is prepared to weather winter's coldest days. Stiff exterior vane feathers lock together, acting like an overcoat of protection, while soft downy under feathers insulate these highly-regarded raptors.

Burt Awelagte's turquoise-eyed raptor from sodalite is about 3 5/8" long, 2 3/4" tall and 7/8" wide. An enchanted offering bundle is composed of fresh water pearl, precious seashell and green turquoise beads. Burt is from the greater Othole family of accomplished Zuni Pueblo fetish carvers. His sons are carvers Ryan and Kyle. Burt's uncle is renowned carver Gibbs Othole.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this eagle fetish will go to the Zuni Eagle Sanctuary. Please see our resources page for more information on the sanctuary.
