Bryson Bobelu's gorgeously large Mountain-lion (cougar, puma or panther) hasn't been carved like this since 1997, which was when he last made larger pieces. It's been smoothly sculpted from Zuni travertine, a stone indigenous to the Zuni Pueblo area. A tail rests on its approximately 5 3/4" long, 2 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" tall body. Turquoise inlaid eyes emit a powerful sweetness. Bryson is a great carver with a colorful family lineage. His mother is jeweler Laurenda Bobelu, who is from the greater Leekya Deyuse (d) family of artists. Bryson's father is Edison Bobelu Sr., who is from the noted Saul Yuselew (d) family. Bryson's brother is carver Edison Bobelu Jr.
