Animal: Harvester Ant, Material: Apple Coral
This offering is sold.
Native red harvester ants, not to be mistaken for invasive fire ants, help loosen and fertilize soil. They "harvest" seeds to eat. All the workers within a harvester mound are sister workers. These ants are a primary food source for endangered horned Lizards. Derrick Kaamasee's exquisite apple coral red harvester ant is about 2" long, 1/2" wide and 1" tall. Lovely etched antennae and blue turquoise inlaid eyes are amazing.
