A mighty "Rain Frog" summons much needed water showers with a pair of hand-held black lip shell feathered plumes or fans called "Rain Clouds". His burnt out fringed shawl is decorated with a fabulously inlaid lapis, red coral and gold lip shell “Rainbird” or a parrot, representative of abundance and prosperity. Celestial and solstice symbols such as stars are also seen. These heavenly accents are from inlaid lapis lazuli, red coral, malachite, variscite, serpentine, turquoise, crushed lapis, serpentine and pipestone. Rounded turquoise in gold lip shell eyes are heartfelt and lapis dots bedeck this approximate 2 3/4" tall, 1 7/8" wide and 1 3/4" deep antler amphibian's sweet face and head. The softly incised folds of his tied shawl are phenomenal. A museum-quality work bursting with color and meaning by master carver Ray Tsalate.
