The Cheama family of Zuni Pueblo are innovators in a realistic and contemporary style of fetish carving that started in the early 1980's. Some noted artists from this family include Dan Quam, Fabian Cheama, Wilfred Cheama (d) and Arvella Cheama. Lance learned in 1986 from his older half-brother Dan, and has won many awards for his carvings since.
Complex etching brings about a furry coat as seen in Lance's elegant bushytail (Fox, Wolf, or Coyote. All this amazing texture truly compliments this serpentine specimen's beauty. Sensing eyes of turquoise, perky ears, a smelling nose, paws and lovely tail make this collectible canine a must-have. About 3 3/4" long, 1" wide and 3/4" tall.
