Salvador Romero studied traditional painting at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the 1980's. Carving from found stone for over thirty years, he still paints and makes leatherworks for ceremonial doings. While hiking anywhere from one to five miles from his Cochiti Pueblo home, he'll know right away when he has located the right stones. He told us he just has a feeling about them and their particular shapes. We're delighting in his latest Snake sculpted from a gorgeous found stone to a size of approximately 6 1/2" long, 2" wide and 3/4" tall.
